I make that a dumb way to run a railroad - it works, but they can miss out on some good money that way. That is one train from A-city to little B-ville, another from B-ville to C-tropolis, and so on. (You don't have to do what some YouTubers did, which is to make all their trains simple shuttles to the next station.
Just watch some YouTube videos to see for yourself. Also, track laying has an undo button so we can keep trying different ways to go round hills. Big differences are that we don't have to put little stations out in the country to collect from farms, mines etc - their output is brought into town for us - and that trains can be told to decide for themselves what mixture of cars to have each trip, to match the passengers and cargoes that are waiting. Hercufles: more curious if there is a diffrence betwean 2 and 3, or that 3 had things that its more fun or better playeble I'd say yes.
